A lecture on one of the most successful Finnish video artists Eija-Liisa Ahtila will be held on Tuesday 21st October. The event is part of the exhibition Story Time: Or Was It? at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion. The lecture will be held by the curator Ruti Direktor in Hebrew.
Eija-Liisa Ahtila's video installation is currently exhibited at the pavilion. The work The Annunciation (Marian ilmestys, 2010) reminds viewer that different worlds of living beings all exist simultaneously. The film was shot in a Finnish landscape at wintertime which serves as a reminder of another parallel-like world in the middle of sunny Israeli weather.
Ahtila's work is part of a fascinating exhibition Story Time: Or Was It? The exhibition consists of seven video installations by Israeli and international artists who play with storytelling. The artists use a variety of technological means and tricks to create something that resembles a story and then deconstruct it into parts. Allusions to legends, myths and memory intertwine and fall apart.
Each installation fits harmoniously to the space and the various works form a coherent whole.
Eija-Liisa Ahtila has been honored with numerous prizes and her works have been presented all over the world. The exhibition in Tel Aviv is open until the end of October.
The Hebrew speaking lecture starts at 7pm at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion. Come early and take your time to see the exhibition beforehand!
