Vacancy: Embassy of Finland in Tel Aviv is looking for a housekeeper

The embassy is looking for an experienced housekeeper to the Ambassador's residence, starting 9 February 2015

The housekeeper is responsible for maintenance of the Ambassador's residence (including the garden and furnishings), organizing of official events and preparation of food. Part of the maintenance work is done by caretaker companies, in these cases the housekeeper is responsible for ordering and supervising the work. Official events organized in the residence include lunches, dinners and receptions, during which the housekeeper is responsible for buying the food and other things needed, preparing, setting and serving the food, and hiring and supervising the possible extra staff. The duties of the housekeeper include also cleaning of the kitchen and washing of dishes; rest of the residence is cleaned by a maid. In addition the duties include other responsibilities as designated by the Head of the Mission.

Work time of the housekeeper is 130 hours during four-week periods. Part of the work is done in the evenings and weekends, and overtime hours can be expected.

A successful applicant should
- solid competence acquired through relevant training or previous work experience.
- previous experience in organizing official events,
- initiative, flexibility and good cooperation skills,
- possibility to use private car (for procurement of goods),
- knowledge of English and Hebrew

Familiarity with Finnish society and Finnish/Nordic kitchen as well as knowledge of Finnish language are assets.

Salary and other terms of employment will be following Israeli law and practices.

The position will be filled for two years period 9.2.2015-8.2.2017, including a trial period of four months.
